Wow this book is hella bleak and profoundly haunting. Triggers my fear of the unknown, makes you question what meaning one’s life has if there is no one to witness it.
Towards the end of the book I felt like I was being drawn in by the narrator, that I was the one they were directly speaking to. I started thinking to myself, “I’m here and I’m a witness. You have created a life worth telling, and I’ll remember it for you.” Obviously this is fiction but it mirrors real life. You create connections with people and make memories. They’ll carry your legacy as much as you will carry theirs.
If anything this story made me more resolute in being more intentional with my time being alive. I can create meaning through the sum of the intentional moments I have with the people I encounter and places I inhabit.
