This book soothe me like a warm tea. I love everything, I enjoy it so much. I picked this book because it's not really thick, but as I reading it, I think I wouldn't mind if this book is much thicker than this because I love it so much. (Though it would probably intimidating me to read)

The story follows Mina who lives in village near the near. There's a tradition that every year they'll sacrifice a young women in her 18th to became the Sea God's bride. They did the sacrifice hopefully to calm the Sea God, preventing the big storms that happen every years.

This year's sacrifice is a young lady called Shim Cheong. She said to be the most beautiful one in the village, thus she fits the criteria. On the day where she's about to be sacrificed, Mina with her brother, Joon, who's in love with Shim Cheong joining the ceremony. Looking at the doubtful look Shim Cheong had, Mina understand that Shim Cheong is hesitate because she is in love with Joon. Mina, who loves her brother so much, decided to sacrifice herself and became the Sea God's bride.

I think the whole story is very beautiful. I love how the tension build, the world building, how the characters become closer with each others, how they're related, it's all so beautiful.

With strong Spirited Away vibes and based on Korean mythology, this book has quickly become a new favourite. There's a dreamlike quality to the story and I was happy to let it pull me along as I discovered the Sea God's world alongside Mina.

I loved the found family aspect, as Mina found her family and love in old Gods, and in her actual long lost relatives, now spirits in the underworld. This works so well as a standalone, but it's a story I really didn't want to leave.
