Definitely the most selfcest I've ever read in a book. Maybe the only book I've read that has selfcest, but this has a fuckload of it.
Contains about everything you could possibly do with time travel and has a surprising amount to say about it's philosophy. Really interesting read even beyond the fact that it's such an early queer book. I found myself highlighting quite a few of the sentences on gender/sexuality, self-reliance, and loneliness that I found memorable and original.

Contains the bare bones of what's adapted into a fantastic plot in the 1966 movie adaptation (which is also one of my favourite films xx), but without the narrative cohesion, dripping style and homoeroticism that would come later. It's fine, but I can see why Dirk Bogarde was unimpressed

It's satirical gay Tarzan x Doc Savage pornography from the 60s. If that idea fascinates you like it did me, then I want to point at the 320 page count and warn you of the multitude of emotions you may experience within those long, pleasureless hours, e.g. fascination, disgust, boredom, self-disgust, exhaustion, confusion, apathy, horror. Despite the crushing feeling that I wasted evenings of my youth, the knowledge that I've read this also lingers unpleasantly like an oil stain or a guilty memory. I think I feel worse about myself, like as a person
