An introduction to the Horror genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

I didn't know what to expect from this book, I think I read it all out of intrigue and while I was reading it I enjoyed it but it wasn't show-stopping. It was very gory but not creepy which I would usually expect of a horror. It kept me interested but it was just alright.

I enjoyed it but it was missing something, I feel as though the atmosphere was a bit flat and didn’t fuel much suspense. While I enjoyed the storyline and the twists it just didn’t feel punchy enough for me for some reason.
It was still an enjoyable read and I will definitely take the time to read more Mary Kubica novels in the future!

I absolutely adore the way that Riley Sager writes about the buildings in his books because they always end up becoming another character almost and the Bartholomew was no different. While I enjoyed Lock Every Door it just didn't hit the mark for me as much as other thrillers do, somehow there wasn't enough shock factor for me especially compared to The Only One Left which was my only 5 star read of January.
I enjoyed the characters but it didn't feel as though any of them had a chance for any proper character progression and while I think the storyline was good it just felt a little underwhelming to me. All in all though it was still an enjoyable thriller but just missed the mark on suspense for me personally.
