A towering achievement in literature, something that deserves all of the praise it gets. An engrossing, incredibly challenging at times, and wholeheartedly human endeavor, this book has reset my rating scale. Nothing I have read in my life up until this point has reached such a peak of literary form. This book challenged me in ways I've never been challenged before. The methods in which traditional narrative is challenged are nothing short of masterful. This book is a genuine masterpiece.
There's so much to be said within this book. It's a violent struggle with addiction, depression, our relationship with entertainment, redemption, and the sheer depravity that exists within humanity. This book is incredibly effective in making you feel all sorts of ways. I felt sick to my stomach, incredibly sad, thoroughly amused, and to a broad extent, hopeful. This is an incredibly hard read, one that frustrates and confuses with ease. There's a very good reason for this to have a corresponding wiki site that walks you through the entirety of the book so you don't miss something along the way. When I eventually revisit this book that is exactly what I do. This is something that I feel like I HAVE to revisit at some point because it is such a dense work and now that I've completed it the first time there's so much more I can likely glean a second time around.
