I was first introduced to this story by Hulu’s show adaptation. The show was too dystopian and stressful for me to watch but I’ve always been intrigued. I’ve had the book on my shelf for years and am finally getting to it. Hoping that reading the story instead of watching will be more tolerable and digestible. I’m reading the 2017 edition with a new introduction by the author and I’m already gutted knowing what I know now in 2026. Chilling to think of the similarities between our world now and Gilead.

Beautiful high school coming of age story told through a collection of letters. Loved it as much reading it in my 30s as I did when I first read it in my early 20s.

I'm in a rut with audiobooks. I struggle listening to them ordinarily and lately I just keep getting them and then returning them because it's just not clicking. But the audio books I've loved in the past I've really loved. Any suggestions on audio books that stuck with you?

I watched the movie a few years ago and I'm curious about the book. I picked up the audiobook for this one. This is one of few times I start a book after watching the movie, but I usually am a fan of rereading and I also have a poor memory 😅 so i basically remember next to nothing.

It hits different to read this after learning of the author’s death (undisclosed cause). The translation style took a bit to get used to but otherwise I enjoyed this raw and honest look into the author’s life. I think it took great courage for her to share her insights and struggles with the world in this way. If you’re looking for a quick and easy memoir that you can finish in a couple sittings, this is a good one.
