Ok, definitely surprised me with who the killer is! I did not have it, even though I thought it was obvious. I’m sure my guess will still play into this role somehow in the future, but for now I was surprised.
Overall, I wouldn’t call this a horror book. It’s more of a darker thriller. There’s a lot of killings, and scary scenes for kids, but it’s not over the top.
What I found lacking in this book was consistency in characters and their age depictions. Sometimes too mature, sometimes too childish. I don’t think the author has the teens pegged correctly or the 4 year old for that matter. A lot of things that happen seem too convenient too, like Ava finding certain things before the police does? Um, I don’t think so.
Still a very quick read that had me guessing all the way to the end. Can’t wait to see more of this series.

Feels like I’ve read this kind of dark academia before. The secret society, privilege against everyone else, girls being used and abused, etc. It wasn’t bad but just nothing exciting.

Well that was a surprising ending. It had great suspense build, until the surprising ending. I really thought it will be predictable, but I was delightfully surprised.
