Okay so little bit of a weird question, but I've read too many books where the characters' family issues have hit too close to home, and I've genuinely gotten triggered so I'm asking. Are the parents in this one like... Not sucky? Specifically moms... And does it play a big part or not? 😭 I need a break from feeling personally attacked

I don’t know what it is with me and accidentally buying adult romances because it’s happened twice now??
I enjoyed this a lot though. I’m never gonna love the insta-love (ha) trope, possibly mostly because I don't think it’s realistic and maybe that’s me being boring or pessimistic, I don’t know. That definitely did make it hard for me to truly love the two of them together, but I still had a lot of fun and I loved so many of the characters. Jack, Ellie, of course, the Grandmas, Katherine, Andrew and Dylan - I cheered for those two throughout the whole book - Ari and Meredith !!!
Both Jack and Ellie’s individual emotional journeys were so important and I related a lot to both of them. Ellie’s fear of failure and her anxiety, Jack’s fear of letting people in and her feeling like a “fuck-up.” I also did like them together, even though it took some time for me.
I honestly haven’t felt very Christmas-y this year yet, so I needed this. It made me laugh out loud so many times, and yeah, it did also make me cry a few times. It was a very fun and comforting read, but the kind of read where you’re neither impressed or disappointed.
