Quick and sweet, this book is a simple story of paranormal insta love. The plot isn't too complicated, the worldbuilding is quite elaborate for a novella, and the characters are cute and likeable. Sadly, some plot points were not followed upon, and not everything was explained very well, but overall I enjoyed the novella.
Thank you to the author for the eARC of this book.

"I'd beg to be run through so deep King Arthur himself couldn't draw Okee out of me with both hands."
I am utterly and completely in love with this book. I don't usually read historical fiction, but the premise of this one just caught my attention, and from the very beginning, I was hooked. The execution is immaculate, and (from what I can tell with my limited knowledge of American history), it's pretty solidly historically accurate.
The characters had me literally giggling and kicking my legs, I just loved their dynamics, and the way their relationships were portrayed. Lula, Boone, and Okee have such a complex relationship between the three of them, and I admired the way the author kept it period-accurate and realistic.
I usually pride myself on being able to predict plot twists, but this book caught me off guard several times. The plot itself was much more elaborate than I'd expected, it's so much more than just a romance.

Short, sweet, and delightfully spicy, this book is a quick read for everyone who loves wholesome contemporary romance novellas with MMCs who yearn like it’s their full-time job.
Elena and Augustin have spectacular chemistry, and the book does a great job of showing how their relationship progresses. The story isn't too elaborate, but it's well-paced, and the premise is interesting. I enjoyed the other characters as well, Mateo is literally the cutest. Carmen is well written as well, and I loved to hate her.

The way I should have read this book as soon as it landed in my inbox, I have no idea why I hesitated. Fae, found family, secret identities, it has everything I was looking for.
The plot is pretty fast-paced, I barely noticed the pages flying by. I really liked the characters, too, and you can trust me when I say I'm usually pretty difficult to impress. I enjoyed watching Emeline grow into her magic, her relationship—although sometimes tumultuous —with Adrian, and also how tight-knit her royal family is, which I don't see enough in romantasy. Adrian is maybe the first MMC in fantasy to know how to grovel properly after a major fuck-up. He begs for forgiveness deliciously, while also giving Emeline enough space.
The plot twists and reveals are a little predictable, but that's only to be expected with a genre like romantasy, especially as someone who reads a lot within this genre. I liked the overall premise and execution, and especially the author's prose.
