I didn't enjoy this read very much. I was captivated by its claims of inspiration from Howl's Moving Castle, but when I read it I immediately realized an issue. The book is great at capturing the whimsical vibe featured in the movie and the odd magic system, however, it lacks actual substance storywise. For a majority of the book nothing happens. I expected the romance to be developed during times where the plot was more calm, but that never happened. The characters all felt as if they had potential but their relationships and behavior were never detailed in too much depth. The magic system and the plot were enjoyable upon reflection, but whilst reading they are hardly noticeable with how slow the book is. Both the romance and the action are incredible lackluster and it leaves readers with a feeling of constant boredom and anticipation for something interesting to finally happen.

I love all the things this book makes me think about, especially regarding women. The role they play, often one of evil, is such an interesting to think about. I need to take another class on it, some of my best papers came from this story.

An introduction to the Classics, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

Dang. Bunny is like the epitome of annoying coasty elitism. Not surprised he's the one who gets killed 🤣

Really enjoying this so far. Honestly, so many people told me to not start the series with this book, that it's so slow paced, so boring etc. I cannot beleuve how easy a read it is - not sluggish at all. Yeah, Louis is a little annoying with his constant "Oh, but let me continue"s but currently I really think this book must be hated on for no reason at all. Was anyone else discouraged from reading IWTV?

I really want to read this and i listened to the sample on audible and it mentioned "needle trauma" in the content warning. This is the first time I have came across something in the CW bit thats made me a bit uneasy about reading something. I'm a massive fan of gore and horror but just cant stick needles (pun intended) so i have questions is there a lot or is just like one short scene and how bad?
