If I had to describe this book in a sentence, it would be “This book is a warm hug that tells you that everything will be okay.” And boy do I wish I could give both of these characters a hug!
The writing in this book was both well done and easy to read. It had it’s moments of simplicity but also moments where you could feel everything both the characters and the author wanted the reader to feel.
The world would be a better place if Warner and Campbell were real people. The softness and gentleness they had with each other was one of my favourite parts of this book. Not only did they make each other feel safe and loved, but I also felt that through the writing.
I love books with military vets in them. Whether it be mental battles, scars, or just stories from their service, it always adds an element of realness to the story. On the opposite side, I’m not a huge fan of instant attraction or love at first sight, nor am I fan of the relationship moving quickly (I’m a slow burn girly) However, I absolutely loved this book and never found myself annoyed by the pace of their relationship! This is 100% a book I will come back to read again when I’m in need of a soft loving story :)
“That’s when I realize vulnerability isn’t a weakness. It’s trust. It’s presence. And it’s the most beautiful thing we share.” - Warner, baby, you’ve got me in my damn feels over here with your words!

I NEED more cowboy romances, I've read a fair few and have several in a list on my profile. If you know of any that are outside of those, I would love to hear about them! Or anything similar! Like the 'Bourbon Boys' series.
Bonus Points if he's an ex-military/vet and a cowboy/rancher, I eat those up!
Series/ Books Included in that list:

What’s a book or series that you just can’t stop thinking about. Mine is the Raven Boys and as a whole the Raven Cycle. I read it a good ten years ago and have re-read a few times and I can’t ever seem to get it out of my head. I just love it to bits

I will start off by saying, I rarely ever like a professor x student based romance. This one was done in a way that I didn’t mind it that much.
The way the author writes is beautiful and has a nice flow to it, making it an enjoyable reading experience. The way they describes things is well done and painted lovely pictures while I was reading. I’ve enjoyed all of the books of this series so far, but this one might just be my favourite.
I liked the concept of having a storm witch, typically we see more generic (yet still amazing) types of magic being used. I loved watching her struggle with controlling her storms, not for the sake of her struggling but more so the imagery that storms are not something so easily contained. Maeve had so many things about her that I loved too. Her colours of black and purple, a snake as a companion, and even her being a storm witch. I might be a bit biased though as a lover of meteorology with a specific interest in storms.
I appreciated Severin in his moments of quiet support. I liked how he supported her to lean into herself and her truths. I loved their quiet moments of being vulnerable together the most though, getting to watch them learn about each other, and us as readers getting to know them better too. The feelings that came through in those moments brought me such a sense of peace and safety.
I loved watching all the girls learn and grow through the series and I’m sad to see it ending. I could easily see myself coming back to read this book, if not the whole series again in the future!

I really wanted to love this book, the premise and general vibes are things I typically gravitate towards. However, I found myself having to force myself to sit down and read the book. I wasn’t a fan of Olivia as a character and found myself skimming her thoughts by the end. I understood where she was coming from but at the same time, I found some of her choices completely childish. Her angry tunnel vision towards Brody was completely uncalled for since he wasn’t even the root cause of the problem. If you had a problem with the family, be angry with the actual one who caused the problem - not the one you have the most access to…
On that note, I really hate the whole overbearing and “your reputation is my reputation” thing going on with famous hockey dads. I know it’s something that goes on in real life but not every hockey book HAS to have that in it.
The writing and I didn’t mesh well either. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either.
I could easily see some people loving this book! But this just wasn’t for me.

The writing was well done and made for an enjoyable afternoon read :)
I’m always for a grumpy man with a gentle side. I loved both of the main characters and the contrast in their personalities. I felt like the couple complimented each other nicely which always makes me like a book more. I felt almost teary at times when Lyra would bring up self-deprecating jokes and Cairn would only give back kindness, love, and support. I felt seen in parts of this book when it came to showing the vulnerabilities of each character.
I liked the glimpses of the other girls and I’m excited to pick up the next books to learn about them too!
