The flowers blooming, we have longer days, and it's that sweet spot between spring and summer that’s perfect for reading in the sunshine (or curled up inside when it rains). This month, I’m hoping to dive into a bit more fantasy, and maybe a few romances. I’ve got a few anticipated releases on my radar and a couple of long-time TBRs finally getting their turn. So whether you're tackling a reading challenge, mood reading your way through your shelves, or just looking for that one book that hits just right, I hope your May reading brings you stories you love and characters you’ll never forget!! 🤗 What’s on your May TBR?

I understood going into this that it is YA and as I age, I find I don’t have the patience or tolerance for some of the foibles of youth. The main character in this is so angry and bitter and single minded, and I’ve been yelling at her. It’s an interesting take on the relationship between humans & vampires, and I’m vaguely curious to find out what happened to June, but I’m going to have to pause for now. Maybe after a break I can tolerate Kidan.

I am really trying to switch from Audible to Libro.fm for audiobooks, however I am finding a ton of books I want to read are Audible exclusives and I cannot even borrow them from my library sometimes 🤨 Has anyone found audible exclusives ANYWHERE else? I'm planning out finishing The Six of Crows duology and the Shadow and Bone trilogy... All 5 books audible exclusives 😭

I read 30% of this, then paused it because I wasn’t feeling it but didn’t want to give up on it. I read another 20% and I just can’t do it anymore. It’s not terrible, it just feels too familiar, too predictable. I’m no longer interested in finding out what’s actually going on.

I’m curious—how did you decide on your avatar when you joined Pagebound? I originally picked the goth/emo-looking girl because her haircut was similar to mine. I almost went with the little green witch because she has such a cool vibe, but in the end, I chose my current avatar since I’m a total sucker for romance books. Don’t be surprised if I switch to the little green witch at some point, I just feel drawn to her! I’d love to hear your stories! Did you pick your avatar because it looks like you, fits your favorite genre, or just because it’s cute?

I'm really interested in learning more about the awesome folks I've connected with on pagebound so far. I've interacted with many of you, and while we usually stick to books because it's a common love we all share, but I realized I only know a little about each of you through those conversations. That is totally fine if that is how you'd like to keep things, so no pressure to answer 😊. A little more personally about me: I'm a father (mid 30s) of 2 beautiful little girls (3.5 years and 7 months), married to an amazing woman and mother, and we also have 2 French bulldogs 😊. I'm currently a software engineer and my primary focus is infrastructure (all the boring stuff that websites like pagebound runs on behind the scenes and serves it all over the world), but I also freelance in web development still since it's where I got my start. Fun random fact: I was top 500 in overwatch season 3 🤣 Super happy to have met everyone and will hopefully continue to meet as this community grows 😊 Please don't forget to practice good internet safety when answering! 🫣

Does anyone have any advice on which book to pick from my tbr in a way that'll be fun and help me reach my reading goal. I really don't want to fall into a slump again 😭

When a series is new to you, are you adding the entire series to your TBR all at once? Or just the first book in the series? I usually only add the first book to my TBR and then I’ll TBR the rest if I enjoy it. With Pagebounds activity feed I’ve noticed some people add an entire series to their TBR right away. If you do this and then don’t like the first do you then remove the rest from the TBR? Suffer through them? Do I just have commitment issues? 🫣🤔

I always feel guilty when I DNF a book. I used to power through and end up in a reading slump for a longgggggggg while but then realized I can... just... stop reading it. I still have trouble DNFing books so I'll likely pick them back up again and hope it's better but usually isn't and I end up in the same cycle again. If you do DNF, do you feel guilty?
