For now, all I’ll say is that I’ve been beaten to a pulp, dragged senseless through the mud, kissed on my wounds with salt on the lips, and am now limping back into the safety of my mother’s arms who isn’t there. That’s what this book has done to me.

I want to get more into poetry and I want to do it without too much analysis (at first). It’s was a little awkward for me to go through this without thinking too deeply, but I still overall thought this was good poetry. I really liked the imagery and descriptive language of the poems; it made for immersive moments. I also noticed that his lines and sentences feel as though they run into each other. Sometimes this is because of how stanzas are formatted, and sometimes it’s because there aren’t any periods to signify an end. I thought this was a unique and interesting aspect of the writing and enjoyed it.

I read the Nintendo’s Art of Musical Play chapter and I found it a little hard to understand for the most part. There were a lot of terms used that seemed more fitting for someone deeper into the topic (unlike me). One thing that stood out to me was the connection between the music box and games/game devices in Japan. It showed me, or at least gave me an impression of, how specifically music is woven through the history of Nintendo.
