Of course I read another lesbian vampire book. And loved it. So beautifully written. The type of book I was staying up all night to read. I was so enamored by the Maria/Sabine and Lottie storylines. Alice’s less so though. Would be 5 stars if not for the last 50ish pages where we wrap up with Alice. I don’t dislike the ending, but was pretty bummed the story ended with the least interesting character.
Also, I was so shocked to see others who reviewed this book saying it has no plot. Hello?! The plot is being a troubled lesbian vampire I’m sorry y’all just don’t get it 😪.

Love!

another book where nothing really happens just girls being girls! and i loved it!! beautifully written. i am mina and margret and eleanor all at the same time.
my only complaint is that in the description of the book it says that an adult mina later looks back and reflects on her younger self, which happens for literally one single page at the end of the book. still loved it tho!

Technically I read this book but don’t ask me anything about it. Maybe I don’t get it because I don’t know much about the bible. Or because I’m not British.

Incredible. This book consumed me for a weekend. Beautiful, heartbreaking, honest, and written so gorgeously.

No sé.

I loved the first 80% of this book!! The last 20% left me with more questions than answers. Didn’t feel like the story lines really wrapped up for me but enjoyed the read nonetheless.

Okay truly genuinely I loved reading this book. It was so incredibly refreshing. And Kiley Reid knows how to write characters that you can connect with. Like everyone in this story is simply just human and messy; even the characters that are kind of archetypal are just equal parts lovable and unbearable which somehow makes it very easy to overlook the tropeyness of them.
And the dialogue!!!!! UGH. It almost made me miss college, I swear. Which is not something I’d normally say tbh, but I think Agatha’s fascination with the language of the students rubbed off of me to point where I was like oh wow yeah this IS fascinating!! The writing in general in this book was phenomenal imo, I was completely lost in it.
I would have given this five stars if it weren’t for the ending. Like I get it.. it makes sense and I see what she’s trying to do with it but it just felt so unfair and unsatisfying. But overall I love this and would totally recommend it to anyone looking for a character study that explores race, money, power, and privilege.

Loved this book! The writing was funny and interesting, and accurate to the college experience of the time. The characters all felt like real people that I was both rooting for and being disappointed in at the same time. While it’s true that not much happens in this book, it was still interesting to read and the characters made it worth it for me. I will however note that this book is uniquely suited for me as a lesbian who was an RA in college in 2018 lol.

The RA vibes in this book are so nostalgic! So far I’ve loved reading and reminiscing 😭.

What you see (i.e. read on the back cover) is what you get! Very silly and campy vampire/human romance. Loved it for the characters, plot, and vampire world. Perfect for a quick and easy read!

An instance where I think the movie is better than the book! It was fun for the first 300 pages, but I got tired of the excessive descriptions of wealth. I understand that that’s basically the point of the book, but it got boring to read after a while, and took away from otherwise fun and interesting characters and plot lines. I especially liked Astrid and Rachel/Nicks chapters.
