Someone told me that if Iām a lit fic lover, this would be a good intro book if I want to get into fantasy. Agree or disagree?

Acceptance (Southern Reach, #3)

As many reviews have said, the middle 200 pages of this novel is a very difficult chunk to get through. Control, the protagonist, is highly unlikable for a majority of the book for no particular reason in my opinion. That said, the last 40 pages somewhat redeemed my view of the series through 2 books and will keep me moving forward through the Southern Reach series.

The way the world building is slowly being shown without info dumping and crafted around the story is truly wonderful. Very inspiring for anyone like me who loves to write!

I set a simple, modest reading goal: 999 books. Not 1000, because Iām realistic, Iām humble, I leave room for lifeās little surprises like coke or cock. And what did I get in return? Bullying.
Do you know what this is? This is textbook crab mentality. Social theorists have documented it for decades: when one crab tries to climb out of the bucket, the others pull it back down.
Thatās you. All of you. Clawing at my ankles as I reach for literary enlightenment. Afraid that if I succeed, your own mediocre reading habits will be exposed in harsh fluorescent light.
Remember how you wounded a sensitive soul who just wanted to read a perfectly reasonable number of books.
