this has no real plot, a terribly written gay character (to the point where the portrayal is actually homophobic), a terribly written mentally ill character (technically multiple but one really stands out), slur use for no real narrative reason, and honestly the worst fake sport ever. for real, the sport makes no sense.
if you were told this was a romance, you were lied to. there is pretty much nothing here other than world building and offensive language that people would have thought was super edgy in 2013, when this was published.

i hate this. ik it was published in 2013 but i’m still confused about the fans of these books since they use such offensive, outdated language. also, i was under the impression that this was gonna be a romance and it is not. i don’t think there is a plot at all tbh. i don’t dnf books but i wish i could dnf this cause it’s so bad.
also, been reading reviews for this book and im shocked to find that there are people who LIKE andrew. again, i know this came out in 2013 and people didn’t understand or care about mental health like they do now, but this might just be the worst representation for a mental illness i’ve ever seen in a book. the gay representation (so far with nicky) is really homophobic too.
the people who can reread this and are not children baffle me.
