Thank God I didnāt DNF. I almost didnāt read this in the first place because⦠what kind of name is Wendell Bambleby? I hated it so much I wanted to skip. š
Anywho, the first 30-40% of the book was quite slow and wordy that I physically struggled to get through it, but once it started picking up, I could not stop! I love the banter between Emily and Wendell so much. There were a lot of funny moments. Overall, it was such a fun and cozy read once you read through all the initial slog.

Sometimes I feel as if this book is too good for me because Emily speaks as if I, too, am a professor at Cambridge.

This book is wordy and slow-paced as heck ā does it ever pick up? Iām starting to get bored.

i think i might just drop this and open my fanfic tab instead, looking for a Rinezha story rather than reading this Altan guy being mad

I honestly donāt know how to review this. I barely understood what I read, and the bits I did understand werenāt worth digging through all the word vomit.
Couldnāt decide if this was pretentious, or good. There were a lot of interesting tidbits about the color blue (and sex), as well as passages written by other people to support her points, but otherwise I found myself not caring much at all. Read it for the vibes maybe? But don't expect anything more, else you'll end up disappointed like me.

Fuck my face, this was bloody fantastic. š©øš©øš©ø Once a vampire girlie, always a vampire girlie, but itās honestly been a loooooong time since I was so enthralled by a vampire book. This one def took me back to my roots. (Reminded me of the first high fantasy series I ever read as a kid: Dhampir/The Noble Dead.)
If you like dark vampires, revenge/redemption arcs, and frame narratives that donāt follow chronological order, then look no further.
BRB, Iām off to get my hands on every Jay Kristoff book I can find.
