My childhood home was not a home where any enjoyment came from cleaning or exercise. They were things to complain about and whine through.
This book has completely rewired me. I exercise because I want to in ways I want to in order to reach goals I care about. I clean so I can be happy in my space. I do laundry so I can wear the clothes I want to wear.
Also, I only fold t-shirts now. Replacing my dresser with bins was the best thing I ever did for myself.
I'm not diagnosed adhd or ocd, but I see myself a lot in those symptoms. I have started treating myself as if I have them, and it has changed my life.
Since we understand ourselves and our relationship to care tasks better, my partner and I can better divide them. Resentment no longer grows the way it used to because we dont feel shame around these tasks as much.
Obviously, we aren't perfect, but now we're starting to understand we aren't supposed to be.
I once told a therapist I was having trouble with chores and hygiene day to day, and she told me to make a weekly chore list. When I told her I already did and I just wasn't doing it, she said "well yeah you just have to do it." After I hung up, I spent the rest of the day crying and hating myself. I really thought something was wrong with me that I couldn't just make myself do these things that seem easy for everyone else.
If you even slightly relate, I feel you should read this book or something like it. This is not generalized advice for an individual. It's how to take an individualized approach to creating your own flows and systems so you can take care of yourself and your home with love and kindness. You deserve it.

I loved this. I think it's better than the first book, but I'm pretty sure that's just me. I don't know if it was the politics or my timing or what.
I love when you find the right book at the right time.
Sazed is just everything to me ❤️

It's been so long since I finished a book and knew I'd be thinking about it for months.
