I wholeheartedly believe that Whit has shelves filled with jars of our tears. 🫠
This book literally picks up immediately where the first left off – no mercy, just straight into the chaotic, mind-binding consequences of that cliffhanger. And let me tell you, it does not let up. Maren and Kye go through the absolute wringer! These poor babies desperately need a break! 😩
Finally getting inside Kye's head was a major highlight for me. After Book 1, I was desperate to understand what was going on in there, and this dual POV delivered everything I needed and more. It clarifies so much, adds crucial depth, and really lets you connect with his internal struggles.
Maren felt... different. Like, sometimes I was reading and thought, 'Who are you and what have you done with my girl?!' 😅 While it's clear she's going through some seriously traumatic stuff and evolving, that shift was definitely... a lot. It's a complex character change, and while it might hit everyone differently, for me, it felt like a departure from the Maren I fell in love with in Book 1. But hey, extreme circumstances breed extreme changes, right?
But,honestly, the grip this book has on me is undeniable. The plot is relentless, the writing is immersive, and that CLIFFHANGER ENDING?!
Whit Stanfield and her cliffhangers are going to be the death of me! I'm not devastated, you're devastated. 😭 I was left staring into the void, utterly desperate for the next part of their journey.

I started off this book not super into it; I felt the writing maybe too high school-y when this was a college setting but I've been getting way more into it than I thought I would be.
Also the kindle e-book cover is SO much better than this cover lmao.
