I found it strange that the author used women of color so often but yet only described (primarily her own) black women experiences to describe acts of racism and the struggles that WOC experience in the workplace. I also didn’t mind the song and TV show references initially but they were SO often in the book it becomes intense. It felt like every other line was a song/movie reference and at a point you’re like “Okay…” I was a little confused on Chapter 8. A racist person would not pick up this book and read to this chapter to take any of this advice. A racist is a racist, they know what they’re doing and will continue to do it. But the chapter came at the reader in an almost personal (to the author) way. I understand her desire to want more actionable support from white women but this chapter didn’t seem like it hit the mark. Overall wouldn’t read again
