    Beginning

I didn't realize this book was available in another language! Hoping to find some other English speakers to converse with as I read this.

This book holds eery similarities to different parts of history and some to our present. Details of censorship of private citizens, individuals attempting to rise up against the party, and cult behavior. Great writing and what a twist at the end!

I love the queer representation in this book. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Reminiscent of other popular fairytale but Soroya's poison and thorns brought a fresh perspective. Author skillfully wrote the characters to get the audience to be empathetic to even the most villainous characters.

    1984 Audible Original Adaptation

If anyone’s interested, this is currently available for free in the Audible Plus catalog! It seems to be unabridged and produced in a style similar to a Graphic Audio performance. The cast is incredible with Andrew Garfield, Cynthia Erivo, Andrew Scott, Tom Hardy, Chukwudi Iwuji, and more. Honestly, with that lineup, this is probably how I’ll experience it!

    Chapter 5

I'm on chapter 5 and thus far, it all seems like frivolous gossip at court. Can someone tell me if it gets more interesting? I'm struggling to find motivation to read it. 😭

    Heartbreaking Parallels

This book was heartwrenchingly devastating. I think there are so many parallels to our current political climate. The imagery she creates is beautiful and I sticky noted so many pages with new vocabulary. I did miss some of the allusion and references throughout so I recommended doing a Google search for the allusion. You can reference it by chapter to ensure you get everything out of it. Margaret Atwood is such an intelligent woman and I wanted to capture as much as I could out of it.
