What's one (or more) of your favourite books that you would not choose to read again for the first time? Books that you appreciated/understood more on your second, third or fiftieth reread. It could be because it was confusing, you didn't know the characters yet, too much to take in at once, maybe the later books in the series or the movie made you enjoy it more? Or a completely different reason. A few of mine that come to mind might be: We have always lived in the castle, the haunting of hill house, Good Omens and Gideon The Ninth 🤔 I loved them I just found the reread more enjoyable 😂

Dw, no one will judge cuz I’ve DNFed books or stayed away from books for the dumbest reasons sometimes. So I’ll go first. I think the pettiest reason I’ve ever DNFed a book was cuz there weren’t enough paragraph breaks. Most pages would just be one big paragraph, and I just couldn’t handle it, I would just randomly get lost between sentences.

If you can remember whats your first ever book you read or just something you remember impacted you into reading or just you in general?

Let me go first. I think the first book I picked up was The Vampire Academy. I mean, obviously we read books in school, but this was the first book I actually chose to read on my own, and I legit think it changed my life. More in the way of like, “wow… books are actually GOOD and damn I want to consume more" I'd legit go to the library like weekly lmao ”

But also in a way is that I used to have a really bad learning disability as a child I ( still have it but is like low maintenance now ) and would act out a lot growing up, and I genuinely think picking up books and reading helped shape me into who I am today. I like to say it was almost like a switch went off in my brain. Like suddenly I wanted to try in school and the disability that held me back felt like it didnt impact me as much.

So yeah, Vampire Academy legit paved the way for my love of reading 🥹 Sorry, I rambled a lot lmao.

I couldn't help but compare Better Than the Movies to my all time favorite romcoms: 10 Things I Hate About You, Drive Me Crazy, and To All The Boys I've Loved Before. The fact that I'm only 2 chapters in it and 2/3 titles have already been referenced in the book is giving me high hopes, but it's also making me doubt if this could live up to them because I am already not liking Liz. I get where her crush on Michael is coming from, but I just don't like this obsessive/"delusional" behavior (as Joss stated) that she's exhibiting. Liz really is giving hopeless romantic and she even agrees lol. So I guess she's a self-aware hopeless romantic.
