Gave this another shot after initial DNF

Tried to read this book when it first came out and DNFd less than halfway through, but the readalong inspired me to pick it back up again...and I'm so glad I did! I actually enjoyed this so much, and it made me realize that I don't usually go for slow burns, but it can def be worth it. It's making me wonder what other books I've given up on that I should revisit...

    Sam's pronouns (+ other children??)

Full disclosure, I haven't finished yet (about 70% done) but I've been feeling lost about the protagonist's children. I know Sam is alive and well, but she mentions having two babies during her scary birth where one baby lives and one dies. Earlier, when she first tells the story of Sam's birth, she only mentions Sam and their near-death experience during labor. We never get an backstory of why Sam uses they/them pronouns (especially since they're so young, 8 years old), which at first I took as a choice on Miranda July's part to normalize alternative pronouns - but now I'm wondering if it has something to do with the two babies she mentions during the birth, like Sam is the embodiment of the dead and the alive baby? Are both Sam? Were there actually two babies, or was this her artistic/spiritual interpretation? Did I miss the explanation of Sam's pronouns?

An insane love triangle with (mostly) lovable characters. Half star off for what felt like a miscommunication issue that really bothered me, but other than that this book was heartfelt and thought provoking. I still don't know if I'm happy with who Emma ended up with because I love both the MMCs! TJR does it again

Sam or Jesse: who would you have chosen?

I just finished and absolutely loved this love triangle. I'm dying to know how everyone feels about who Emma ends up with, and who you would have chosen if you were in her shoes? It's such a complex situation

this was my favorite romance read of 2023 - about as perfect as it could get. We had tender moments balanced so well with spicy, tension-filled moments, an amazing cast of characters, and a storyline that tugged at my heartstrings. It was also genuinely laugh out loud funny. I had such a good time with this book, and have yet to read another romance that feels this fleshed out and balanced. Five stars all around

    Why Monique's POV??

I'm almost finished and loving it, but one thing that's been bothering me is the dual timeline and switching POV's. I love seeing Evelyn as an older woman through Monique's eyes, but there hasn't been much character development of Monique - and Evelyn is just so charismatic and fascinating, I want to get back to her part of the story when we switch back to Monique. I appreciate seeing Evelyn from an outside perspective, but idk i wish I felt more invested in Monique. Only thing keeping this from being a 5 star read so far but maybe ill change my mind 🤷‍♀️

    Is this worth reading?

I have read books 1-3 of ACOTAR and am debating whether to read this one or skip to book 4...heard this is in a super different style with each chapter from a character's perspective, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Help me decide!!

Josh Riedel was the first employee at Instagram, and it's clear in this book

I'm a software engineer, so I enjoyed the tech details. It felt authentic and added to the atmosphere. With all that drawn from real life, it really makes me question what was going on at Instagram in the early days 👀 potential privacy violations and whatnot
