there were so many elements to this book that i love. firstly, i think it is such a good sequel, it builds off of characters established in a very interesting way without finishing all development in the second book of the trilogy. this also balanced a level of humor very well throughout the text (mainly with pippin and merry, legolas and gimili, and sam and sméagol) which adds a layer of tragedy to the text as these characters are able to find and create these moments of tenderness and joy not knowing if this the last time they get to say or do what they need with the people they love. i loved this book so much (im amazed honestly as the two towers is my least favorite of the movies) im worried about the next book, wish me luck!
