This book makes me want to bake. There has been so many mentions of cakes and stuff.

Summer camp for adults is a great setting for a book. But it didn't really feel like summer camp? There was hardly any activites or Garland just didn't join them or something. I wanted more of her doing silly activites, I wanted that summer feeling.
This book is positive queer story, but honestly maybe a little too positive? Like everything was easy and smooth. Garland realizes that she likes a woman and then just accepts this and wants the relationship, she didn't panic at all. For someone who always did what looks like the right thing to do I think it was weird that she didn't panic at all. I needed more complicated feelings. I do like that this was a happy book, but a book can be happy and still explore hard things. Overall I think the story was a bit one dimensional, like we didn't really get to know the characters.

I read all the other books from this series before this, bc I'm not fan of fake dating. Happy to report that the fake dating aspect was actually pretty good so I really should have given this a shot sooner. This book is a product of different times. Both Hannah and Garret said some really insane things, which just irked me so bad. Hannah has a big "not like the other girls" vibe going on and well Garret says some insane things about women.
Overall I did enjoy this, the heavier themes were done really well in my opinion. Suprisingly little hockey for a hockey book tho. Perfect read for a raint day.
