Ummmmm… what did I just read? 😂

I absolutely loved Hidden Pictures by this author, so I was completely psyched to jump into this one. Unfortunately, this book was a major miss for me.

The female lead, Penny, was incredibly annoying, and the whole plot just felt ridiculous. A missing cat somehow turns into demon possession, cult-like behavior, and… honestly, I don’t even know what else. 😂 And the constant “mew, mew, mew” and “scratch, scratch, scratch” drove me absolutely up the wall. I swear I could feel my teeth grinding every time.

I listened to this one on audiobook, so I did wonder if that affected my experience, but honestly, I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed it any more in print.

I really wanted to love this one after Hidden Pictures, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.

This book definitely delivers as a thriller/suspense read. There are twists and turns around every corner, along with plenty of dysfunctional chaos. At times, though, it felt like there may have been a little too much going on. Nearly every character had their own drama, which occasionally made the story feel a bit unfocused.

That said, all the chaos made for a very entertaining read, and I definitely wanted to keep turning the pages. And that ending? The final twist was pretty mind-blowing and definitely not what I expected. Overall, a suspenseful, twisty read that kept me guessing until the very end.

Wow, this one definitely pulls at the heartstrings. A heartbreaking story about true love and the forces that keep two people apart, this novel spans both World War I and World War II, moving between India and England.

Barbara O’Neal creates a sweeping love story that draws you in, makes you sigh, and ultimately breaks your heart. She does a wonderful job bringing the setting and characters to life, and the characters themselves are rich, complex, and full of personality.

My only complaint is that the book felt a little too long, and the story moved quite slowly at times. Even so, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to fans of historical romance. A beautiful, emotional story of love, loss, and the forces of history that can keep two people apart.

I was so happy to receive this audiobook ARC because the premise sounded right up my alley—and then I found out it was set in a fictional town in Nebraska? As a born-and-raised Nebraskan, you had me at hello. 😂

This was such a good, twisty thriller that really captured the dynamics of small-town life and just how insular a community can feel from an outsider’s perspective. There’s something about small towns where everyone knows everyone (or thinks they do), and this story played with that dynamic really well.

I really liked the FMC, too. She definitely has her issues, but she’s persistent, determined, and downright dogged when she gets her mind set on something. I found myself rooting for her even when I wanted to yell at her a little. 😅 There were also some great emotional beats throughout the story that kept me invested.

And since this was an audiobook, I have to give a shout-out to the narrator! She did a fantastic job bringing the story to life and really helped pull me into the twists and turns.

A fun, suspenseful read with plenty of small-town secrets and a Nebraska setting that made this one extra special for me!

Annie Gore is officially my new favorite P.I. character! 🔎

This is the second book in the series, and it absolutely delivered for me. It’s engaging from the start, has a great pace, and just enough twists to keep you guessing—especially toward the end.

One of my favorite things is how vividly the characters come to life. You can really picture them and get pulled into their world. There’s also a hint of the supernatural woven into the story, but it’s done in a way that keeps you suspended in just enough disbelief to wonder what might actually be possible.

Fast-paced, atmospheric, twisty, and thoroughly entertaining. All in all, a great thriller—and I’m definitely looking forward to more Annie Gore!

Okay, this book was FABULOUS—and unexpected in all the right ways! 👀

I’m a sucker for anything involving the paranormal, psychic abilities, and things that make you wonder, “Wait…could this actually be possible?” And The Women in White definitely delivered on that front!

What really surprised me, though, was the research woven throughout the story. The book includes quotes and information from real publications and research surrounding psychic abilities, and honestly? Fascinating… but also a little horrifying. 😳 There were definitely moments where I found myself thinking, “Okay, maybe I didn’t need to know that…” 😂

It’s fiction, but those real-world elements added such an intriguing—and slightly creepy—layer to the story.

If you love paranormal mysteries, psychic phenomena, or books that leave you questioning what’s possible, trust me—you’re going to want to pick this one up! 👻📖✨

I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever disliked a couple as much as I disliked the one in this book. 😂 And somehow, I think that was the point. It didn’t necessarily detract from the story, but I found myself irrationally angry more times than I can count—especially at a system where the rich can seemingly do whatever they want, including murder, and face little to no consequences.

I can’t even say that I enjoyed this book, exactly, haha. But I was invested enough that I absolutely had to know how it would all turn out, which has to count for something.

This was a really difficult book for me to rate. I had a lot of feelings about it, most of them involving frustration and rage, but I also think that reaction was part of what made the story effective. Definitely not a favorite, but one I’ll probably keep thinking about.
