lostorigins commented on whatkindoftea's review of Middlesex
Here's the problem with Middlesex: Eugenides didn't even bother to interview or research or do any real work to learn about the experiences of people who are intersexed. If you read this book, do not for a moment think that is is representative or an honest telling of this particular subject. Just because Oprah loved it, does not make it real or true. People don't discuss this topic enough in the context of our society, and the fact that most people will think about this book whenever it /does/ come up is so frustrating. Just no.

Beautiful read, the generational storyline flowed well and made sense but was still surprising.
Some parts went on a bit too long, but overall I really enjoyed the story.
