Hi everyone! 👋 I’m curious: How many books do you physically own? (mainly asking about physical books because my primary concern is shelf space) Are you happy with this number? Do you do regular unhauls to maintain/get closer to your ideal number? And on a related note, what percentage of those books have you actually read? 😉
I have about 300 books on my shelves, and I’ve currently read about 40% of them, which I’m hoping to remedy this year! (either by reading more of them or unhauling the ones I’m no longer interested in)

Trying to move away from reading by the numbers!

OMG peeps, I don't know if it's the same in all countries (I'm in Oz) but there's an old '99 adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House on the free movie section of YouTube right now! It only follows the story loosely & they've totally gone for shock value, so it's actually pretty bad lol! But it's one of those 'so bad it's good' horror movies. On the upside though, you get to see Liam Neeson get pulled into a fountain by a giant hand so it's not all bad lol! 🤣🤣🤣

i read this one and the thing that did stick with me, was the novelty of its format, but at the same time it made it very hard for me to keep up (i struggle w attention issues tho!) i own it and might try to read it again while keeping notes or marking pages or smth. 7/10? for me :)

entering the new year I often get nostalgic for some of my past favorite reads, and bride was one of them! I've yet to read Mate, so I figured I was due for a reread of this before jumping into the sequel! I also annotated my physical copy the first time I read it so im really excited to read back and see all my past notes 🥹

An eclectic essay collection featuring authors such as Margaret Atwood and Ursula Le Guin. I’ve decided not to fixate on “finishing” the book, but gradually make my way through it by reading one or two authors at a time, whenever I feel like it. Slow and steady wins the race!

Hi all! i wanted to know what you’re guilty pleasure book is? a book that you re-read when you just need some joy of spark in your life? Mine is any book that involves witches of some sort (my most re-read book is a discovery of witches by deborah harkness, this was first “adult book” i bought ever and i treasure the nostalgia when i re-read it)

Having had no prior knowledge of M. R. James, I was surprised to learn that he was from the early 20th century! For some reason I thought he was contemporary.

Years ago, I tried reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell but just couldn’t get into it. Now, I feel like this short story might be a good entry point for me, both to taste-test the author’s writing style, and literally it is set in the same world. I just might give JSMR another go!
