I was initially very drawn to the excellent world building and fleshed out characters. I still enjoy many of the interactions and find the descriptions well-done. I feel that everything is well planned and the events that happen are grounded in the rules of reality that has been created and well-communicated. That being said, the middle has been a bit of a slog. And (this one's on me) I can't say I'm a big enemies to lovers gal--I just personally don't find it believable that someone can be physically attracted to someone who constantly belittles and baits her--and a lot of Seris's inner dialogue is repetitive and boring.

Okay, yes. I'm hooked. Locked in. I'm so glad I'm listening to it because I don't think I could read Saeris with my own eyes every few paragraphs without rolling them. The world building has been excellent. The setup for the characters and adventure to come--chef's kiss. Every scene has moved the plot forward. I have not truly cared about characters this instantly in a while. I can't wait to read some more. Check your TW because I just listened to a really gnarly scene that made me a bit uncomfortable.

Well done, mostly well rounded characters with their own compelling back stories. Believable dialogue and interactions. Very good spice. A good depiction of BDSM dynamics, if a bit light on the consent side of things.
