    3.5
    Enjoyment: 3.5Quality: 3.5Characters: 3.5Plot: 4.0

As I read this book and am reflecting on it, I'm trying to keep in mind that this is a young adult book and I listened to it as an audiobook which may or may not have affected how I interacted with this! I also don't tend to write reviews so bear with me~

One of the most notable aspects of this book is the world building in which I felt like the author spent a lot of time, too much to my liking, on painting a magical, whimsical and fantastical world. At a certain point, I just felt disengaged because it felt too dragged out for me.

The story and characters themselves were all the typical tropes and pretty much predictable in terms of what they were thinking, the actions they would take, and how the story would unfold.

Overall, this book is lighthearted and straightforward in its story, plot, and characters. Great for those who just want a light read! Andddd I definitely recommend the audiobook.

    I'd give this a 3.75 if I could

An Oath to the Winter Winds

An Oath to the Winter Winds

    L. N. Sefchik

What starts out as a quest for a friend's cure turns into so much more. Ever since the events at the watchtower, Sebastian cannot assuage his guilt over his best friend's fall to the Kingman's Curse. Desperate to escape the suffocating confines of the Vanis Aer Æther Guild, and find a solution against Colin's purgatorial state, he flees with Niamh and a group of boisterous explorers to the magical continent of Seda in the hope of a new start. But between a mishap with a cursed leyline, and misunderstanding a Titanian holiday, Sebastian cannot catch a break. Still, there may be a silver lining that grows a deep-rooted crush into the blossom of love. Niamh, on the other hand, is secretly struggling with her own feelings of inadequacy. After coming to terms that she is not cut out to be a mage, her reason for fleeing to Seda with her cousin's exploration guild transforms into a discovery that she was destined to walk a different path. With a new mentor and reinvigorated purpose, Niamh must learn what it means to surrender herself to both the spirits and her own heart. Together, they might have what it takes to save a beloved friend and face their intertwining destinies. An Oath to the Winter Winds is a slow burn fantasy romance great for readers who prefer big doses of medium-to-high-stakes plot that brings two friends intimately together with intention. This book can be read by itself, or as a supplemental standalone to the Carving Legacies series. The story does not end on a cliffhanger, instead it guides the reader to the next adventure if they choose to explore further. This book is intended for an audience aged 18+ for depictions of intimacy.
