I hope you are all doing well! Isnāt it absolutely crazy how fast time flies? Please tell me about the things you look forward to in May! Do you have any plans? Goals? Which books are you excited to read? Personally, I want to finish The Life Impossible by Matt Haig and there are a bunch of books on my TBR but I never really plan what to read next because I never actually follow through with that. I just read whatever feels right in the moment āØ Honestly I am yearning to connect with you guys and I wanted to use this day as an excuse to do so. šø

This book just hits in a way that classic fantasy rarely does anymore. It has that sweeping, old-school epic feel, but with pacing that keeps you completely hooked. It does start a bit slow, but itās absolutely worth it once everything clicks into place. The world feels lived-in, the stakes are constantly rising, and every POV adds something meaningful instead of slowing things down. What really stands out is how John Gwynne builds emotional investment. You donāt just follow the characters, you root for them. Corbanās journey in particular has that addictive coming-of-age + chosen one + training arc energy done right. And then thereās the growing sense of dread in the background, you can feel something big and devastating is coming. When things start going wrong, they really go wrong. Completely worth the slow burn.

I wanted to share my monthly reminder on gentleness: your reading life doesnāt have to be consistent to be meaningful.
Maybe April didnāt go how you planned. Maybe that stack you curated for April stayed untouched, the coveted streak slipped away, or your brain just said ānot todayā more often than not. Thatās okay! Books arenāt going anywhere. They wait for us until weāre reading to come back.
Reading isnāt something to win, itās something to return to again and again. āØš

I used to read a lot of manga but kind of fell off in recent years. My teenage life consistent primarily of being obsessed with Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, and Fullmetal Alchemist, and as an adult Iāve enjoyed lots of BL, as well as shounen and seinen like my Hero Academia, Chainsaw Man, Witch Hat Atelier, and Blue Period.
Does anyone have good manga recommendations? They donāt have to be for me specifically, as Iām happy for this thread to be a hub for others to find manga too. What are your favourite manga from the past and the present?
