For now I am a little confused about the flow of the sentences like:
I could always gauge his level of fury by the number of furrows forming above his nose. Despite an old injury to his hip, his slenderness was not a sign of fragility. On the rare occasions when Rory smiled, it was clear he had been handsome in his youth.
(Just an example, there are other instances.)
It's kind of disjointed but!! Introducing characters and world building is difficult. I think it's going to get better and I won't be pulled out of my reading by this as much

Firstly i think the 2026 one is bugged as it says that 2025 has already happened, and that 2026 is up next…
Secondly, i plan on reading Emily Wilde! i’ve been meaning to for ages and now i finally have a reason. but if it remains bugged, and 2026 is up next then im not sure what ill pick as nothing seems too interesting. maybe A Wizards guide to Defensive Baking?
eta; yes i know many people have pointed out that its not a bug, but i found it very confusing 😅. i probably wont participate this year as theres just other things id rather read on my very long tbr (mine is physical, so if it doesn’t fit on my shelf then im not allowing myself to buy a copy to put it there). if they spanned more genres or had more options that would’ve been great, but i also sometimes like how concise they all are and limiting your choices
for me: i don’t read classics- they’ve never agreed with me. i like romance in moderation and im already planning on reading two in december, i don’t read adult fiction, and the last pick sounds okay, but not something id jump on.
i’ll ready emily wilde next year or in spring, but i love that everyone is excited for this winter!

Sony Lands Movie Rights to James Islington’s ‘Hierarchy’ Fantasy Book Series
Eeeeeee, so excited for James Islington! Hope they don't cast Timothée Chalamet as Vis 😐

Alrighty nerds, we're near the end of 2025
What's been your absolute favorite book(s) of the year?
Mine is The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez...Genuinely the most lyrical and beautiful story I've ever read. Picked it up in April and I still think about it daily
I'm picky on what I give 5 stars, but I did not need to second guess my rating at all
Honorable mentions are Legendborn by Tracy Deonn The Corruption of Hollis Brown by K. Ancrum The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White 🥰🥰
Please share any book recs for the start of my 2026 tbr 👁👁

There are some stories that miss the mark more than others (but I think the reason why it's because of their brevity so it cannot be helped), but in general this is a great read if you are looking for non-white authors and to broaden your literature horizon

i will be honest, most of the time im rolling my eyes out at the characters and the prose, so something tells me that i might be out of the target range for this book - also why everyone is so mean???
