So far, I have found this book superficial. Where is the depth of characters and the depth of the plot? And the spice isn’t really spicy - it’s kinda average

I kinda feel too old reading this since it’s about college students, but it also feels kinda nostalgic at the same time. Also at 24% in, this book isn’t super smutty like everyone says…sex is casually mentioned but that’s about it

Reading and listening to this make the story so much more impactful than when I was simply reading it.
It took a little while for me to get into the story; I felt like the plot didn’t really start until a third of the way into the book, but then I was hooked.
This book reminds me of why I loved historical fiction so much - I love the perfect blending of history and fiction. It’s a beautiful story about sacrifices and surviving in old Hollywood as blacklisted writers and actors. The ending wrapped up the entire book with a beautiful bow, leaving no questions unanswered.

A slow start but I feel like that’s typical with historical fiction
