If you ever thought to yourself, "Gee, I wonder what it would be like to sit down and have a coffee with Thee Kelly Bishop," then this is the book for you.
From 'A Chorus Line' to her famed Emily Gilmore, and the small and large parts inbetween and after, Kelly (née Carol) tells you about them all.
She is a formidable and surprising character and personality in her own right. Someone who stands up for her beliefs and says out loud what needs to be said; she seems a diligent and hardworking individual, with love and care for those around her AND is a devoted pet mom. 🐈 This isn't a prose filled story of crazy adventure, instead, it's a relatively comfortable somewhat linear journey from her most memorable moments on and off the stage; but certainly there were things I learned about her life and the side of show business she was a part of (apparently ALL of the sides!) and I fully enjoyed all the nods and references to dance and broadway she brought to her memoir based on her own love and appreciation of the craft. She seems like a standup woman, and someone who cheers on and supports the future generations of performers. 🩰 One thing that always comes with reading a memoir written by an older person, there is a lot of loss. And amongst the laughs and cheers I made during this listen, there was also a surprising amount of tears that I shed. It's hard to say goodbye to those we love- and to live on. Kelly provides some real and heartfelt words from her own experience.
This is definitely worth the read/listen, and I'm glad for her having written it to share with us. She's the one. 🎩

I felt the same way - this wasn't just an audiobook, it was sitting down and having a conversation with her. Audiobook is definitely the way to go with this, having Kelly Bishop herself narrate enhances the experience and I feel you are that much more invested in her journey and life than you would be just eyeball reading
