I'm a big fan of fantasy and sci-fi and I love complex world-building with tons of new to me concepts and words and things. And, obviously, I'm always happy if there's a glossary, or something like it, at the end of the book. Same for maps and other supplemental materials, I absolutely love them. Makes it a lot easier to understand things, keep track of who is who or what's where.
But I've read several books in the past where those materials held important clues or outright spoiled central twists of the story, which has made me overly cautious about actually using them while reading
So, I was wondering: Do you use glossaries and co if a book has them? Do you avoid them/only look at them if you're further along in the story? Have you ever had a book or plot point spoilt by something like this?

I’m really enjoying this so far but I’m not quite understanding the hierarchy within the Sacred Sisterhood. What distinguishes the Chosen from the Enlightened, and what are the differences between Minor Saints vs Diaphanous Spirits vs Full Auras. Could someone explain without spoilers please ?
