OBSESSED with this book. It has been on my TBR for a while and I finally started it because I got approved for the sequel’s ARC. I went into it completely blind, other than knowing it was a fantasy and not knowing much about the author and it ended up being such a great surprise. I’m a sucker for Viking-inspired stories, and this one really delivered on that brutal atmosphere while also giving us a magic system that was well fleshed out and pretty easy to understand
I loved the dual POVs because it let you see the story from different angles and made the stakes feel even bigger. The side characters were also fantastic and none of them felt like background filler. They all had important roles and I really enjoyed watching the relationships between everyone develop.
And the twists toward the end? THAT ENDING?! I had to go back and reread a few parts just to fully process what happened.
Brb while I go devour the next book.

This was a cute monster romance with plenty of cozy small-town vibes. I loved the variety of side characters, they added a lot of charm. The FMC was pretty obnoxious for most of the story and drove me a little nuts, but she does get better toward the end. Overall it was a fun, cozy paranormal romance if you’re in the mood for something light.
As for the audiobook version, one star because the whined valley girl accent was too much and added to the FMC’s annoyance 😵💫
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for the eARC and audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.
