  • Books about propaganda?

With everything that is going on, I've seen a lot of people sharing the same sentiment of feeling exhausted by the amount of negative and often misleading news that come out everyday. I watched a video that talked about how this is a propaganda tactic called 'flooding the zone' (also known as gish-galloping) as a way to bombard people with information to shift the focus from bigger issues and make sure we don't trust anyone, not even ourselves. This results in people being desensitized and becoming silently compliant because of the mental exhaustion. It's a way for those in power to capitalize on our fear and confusion. I'd like to learn more and was wondering if anyone has book recommendations that are about propaganda or the control of information in general. Thanks in advance! Trust yourself and trust your neighbors and community before you believe politicians.

  • ā¤ļøvsšŸ’™ - Welcome to my Colour Challenge

Today's prompt brought to you by me watching The Side Effects by Coldrain way too many times.

Pick a colour, red vs blue. Vote by suggesting a book with that colour cover. You can vote both if you want.

Which way is the bird lookin?

(this has nothing to do with the actual content of the book) Every time I look at the cover I think the mockingjay is facing left but its head is actually facing right. I don't know if this was done on purpose as an optical illusion or if I'm the only one that thinks it looks kinda weird lol

  • What is a book quote that has been on your mind?

With everything going on in the world, is there a quote that comes back to you? For me its this one from my favorite book. It might be time for a reread.

ā€œThe really unforgivable acts are committed by calm men in beautiful green silk rooms, who deal death wholesale, by the shipload, without lust, or anger, or desire, or any redeeming emotion to excuse them but cold fear of some pretended future. But the crimes they hope to prevent in that future are imaginary. The ones they commit in the present — they are real.ā€ ― Lois McMaster Bujold, Shards of Honour

  • Question for those who read 100+ books per year

Out of curiosity, how do you do it?! Are you a naturally fast reader? Do you read several hours a day? Listen to audiobooks? As someone who LOVES to read but is a naturally slow reader, I’m always fascinated when I see users with so many books read per year.
