Well, that’s a lie actually - it’s my first library card since I was maybe 10.
I’m so excited for free books! I’ll probably still buy my favourites though 🫣
Do you guys use your local library? Do you read physical copies or Libby?

This story felt like a Hallmark movie and a love letter to books all in one. The bookstore setting is cosy and warm, and the sense of family and community is beautiful.
Ella is a sweet and lovable character, although perhaps a little boring. I especially loved her connection to her Peruvian culture.
Henry on the other hand, was harder to like. In the first half of the book, I honestly hated him. He was bordering on cartoon villain at times. He did grow on me in the second half as he made an amazing partner to Ella and seemed to really care about her love for the bookstore.
The romance between Ella and Henry was sweet, but I didn’t fully feel the chemistry between them. Their relationship seemed to go from 0 to 100 a little too quickly for my personal taste. Although the intimate scenes were well written, they felt slightly too spicy for these particular characters. The shift from sweet romance to full spice felt rushed.
My main criticism is that the story went a bit flat in the middle. It felt like it couldn’t quite decide whether to focus on the romance or on the effort to save the bookstore. The two storylines didn’t fully mesh.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to read, heartwarming romance.

Does Henry have any redeeming qualities? I’m struggling to see how anyone would fall in love with him…

What is with so many books these days not having chapter titles? For me, they’re little windows into the upcoming chapter to give a glimpse of what’s to come. I especially enjoy them when they’re clever and unique. I also find them so helpful when I’m reading nonfiction, particularly ones that are educational. It just helps me with organization and structure.
Do you prefer chapter titles? Do you care if a book has them or not?

Fiction by Zionist Authors
Disclaimer: I don't wish to bring hate to any authors, I deeply believe in democracy. However I think it's important for people who hold themselves accountable for their reading choices to have access to the information about authors/books they give their time and money to. These are authors who have publicly supported Israel or middle road. If you notice someone who may have changed their stance recently or supported Palestine and are here wrongfully please do correct me

I know this will be controversial here but I’m looking for some advice. Im not trying to rage bait or anything like that so please don’t turn this into a moral standoff. I would also like to say that I’ve read problematic authors in the past before I knew what they did and I’m trying to be better about what I choose to read! Anyway, How do you guys go about reading problematic authors if you haven’t read them before? I’m interested in reading Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson and I’ve heard things about him so what’s the best way to read his books without supporting him or should I just skip his books altogether? What do you do about problematic authors in general? Again, this is from a point of curiosity and learning!!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share how this quest was curated, and how suggestions and new additions will be evaluated. This quest first and foremost celebrates women behaving badly, whether that's through revenge, selfishness, unhinged desire, or simply a loose screw. There are (thankfully) many examples of such women in every genre, but this quest leans towards the "weird girl lit fic" realm. Weird girl litfic isn't an official sub genre of course; it's more of a vibe, you know it when you see it. Books in this sub genre tend to be literary or contemporary fiction with some thriller and horror mixed in, which is reflected in the quest list.
For new additions, I will be prioritizing new releases. There may be some exceptions if I missed an excellent backlist book, but in general I want the quest list to grow with books that will be published in the months and years to come :) Right now, I'm going through books published in 2025 that would be excellent fits. What Hunger by Catherine Dang was just added - let me know which other standout titles were published in 2025 and I'll do some research!
There are some popular backlist titles I intentionally did not include since they're well represented in other Quests (for example, Gone Girl and Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil). Others fit the theme but not the genre (examples: Poppy War and Iron Widow).
Hope this clarifies the criteria and helps steer suggestions! Stay bad 🔪💄🚬

This might be very niche but sometimes it bothers me that, no matter what fiction I read, there is always a lack of vegan food. I get that it is not the most popular diet/ way of living but as someone mostly vegan I can’t help but wanting to see it represented. So my question is, how do you feel about this and also, do any of you have rec for fiction with vegan food included?

Whether you love to hate or hate to love 'em, these literary bad girls are anything but well-behaved. *Disclaimer: we do not literally support the illegal and oft cruel behavior of these protagonists (usually); we support the authors bold enough to write them (always).
