Thoughts from 9.9% - Middle of Chapter 3

"The Philippines is one of the most dangerous places in the world for journalists"

It is disheartening that journalist are regularly threatened because of the profession especially when the cover certain issues. They fear for their lives and in most cases receive constant insults and threats just because there are some who doesn't like the stories they are sharing or they have unlocked serious scandals or crimes. What annoys me as well, in particular in the context of the Philippine landscape with the rise of vlogging that there are also people who would rather relay on vloggers/bloggers on their news even if it is not verified or even untrue (fake news) and would label some journalists are biased or the ones who are spreading fake news.

Campaign Promises and Normalcy of Violence (Thoughts from 4.3%, end of Chapter 1)

"The terrible became ordinary, to thundering applause."

This is the Duterte legacy normalizing violence as if killing is the only possible solution. Due process have become void, human rights may be forgotten (from his own words to add), police have become not just enforcers of the law but they are now judge and executioner as well.

"Collateral Damage", as if those innocent beings are not worthy of their lives.

This is just chapter 1 and all the unwanted feelings are coming up again. Memories of daily new reports comes back to my mind and I could just cry in frustration and anger. This will be a long ride reading this.
