This is Grady Hendrix's magnum opus in my option, this is 100% his best work. This book was so moving and it really felt like he cared about these girls in his writing, I never imagined I would be move to tears at the ending of one of his books but here we are. The witchcraft really isn't the horror here, all the horror elements come straight from the home itself and what these girls went through. I loved it.

We are starting to take off on the witchcraft element now but I just wanted to take a moment to note that out of everything I've read from Hendrix this feels like his best writing to date. I've really enjoyed this so far and the start is excellently written imo. It feels like a mix of girl interrupted and the craft. I've been picking it up to read every chance I get.

I've been a fan of all the Grady Hendrix books I've read so far and I'm enjoying this one as well but I'm not sure how I am going to feel once it takes that 'campy horror twist' that I normally love so much in Hendrix's other works. Being Irish we have so much dark history with mother and baby homes ran by the church, the last being closed within my lifetime, so its not a distant history. I'm not sure how I'll feel about it, I'm hoping I can separate it in my mind as this books feels so American rather than Irish. I'm going to keep going for the moment, here's hoping the girls get their revenge on those who have wronged them🤞🏻
