With Artemis II, this felt like good timing.

Joan Goodwin is an undergraduate professor of physics, and obsessed with all things space. When her sister mentions that NASA is opening up applications to include women for their Space Shuttle program, and she applies. Atmosphere alternates between Joan's time as an ASCAN and her time as an astronaut leading up to the fateful STS-LR9 mission, and the day of STS-LR9's landing.

Shoutout to Taylor for keeping me on the edge of my seat until the VERY LAST PAGE. Gods.

Book 3 -- Morgan is starting to become known in the area (though given her family's past/notoriety, I'm unsure why this is "new", as she already should've been but...) and this time she and Newt are off to find a Hodag.

A hodag was a new cryptid for me, so that was fun because I went into this not having any of my own perceptions of the creature which made it a bit more enjoyable.

Morgan, cryptozoologist and her beloved dog Newt are on the hunt for bigfoot in this addition to the series.

Again -- fun. Formulaic but fun.

A cryptozoologist and bookstore/oddities owner takes the reader along on a hunt for a sea monster in Lake Michigan that has been associated with multiple deaths.

This is the first in the series, and sets us up nicely with our cast of characters; Morgan, the cryptozoologist, Jon, the cop, and a various cast of contributing friends.

I blew through this entire series (4 books currently) in a matter of 3 days. It was fun. While it was formulaic, the "twist" of trying to debunk a cryptid sighting was fun to listen to.

1929 takes a more personal look at the events leading up to Black Thursday, and the aftermath of its effects by following big names in the banking and stock industry.

I learned about men I hadn't previously been aware of, and their following court cases, which I also wasn't overly aware of. Was I also infuriated that this entire thing - much like 2008 - was manufactured by white men losing at speculating and taking everyone else down with them? Yes. Entirely yes.

Cute and spooky.

Theodora is spending the holidays with her new fiancé's family. She thinks it'll be a good way to meet her new in-laws, and win them over. Upon their arrival though, some weird things begin to play out, and a decades old mystery is slowly unraveled.

Listen, I love a good suspense/thriller palette cleanser. Predictable, sure. Fun, also yes. This one was mildly predictable, though the last tiny twist did surprise me.

Picked up on recommendation from my local B&N bookseller.

Ugh, I loved this deeply. It was a lot to get through and I took breaks, but I wanted to enjoy it not just rush through it. Looking forward to book 2.
