There’s so much fun tension between them…until there isn’t. Their tension just isn’t consistent, and it nearly drops entirely once they give in. Lots of potential, but it missed the mark for me. The other bits of tension around the farm are just sprinkled in, and I know it’s the first book, but that alone is not interesting enough for me to continue with this series. But I did finish this in one day (thank you laundry).

Meh. It takes forever for them to get together, and then they’re barely together.

Quick read, not as depressing as I expected it would be considering I’ve lost some people lately. However, the manner in which I lost them was entirely different. Nothing was drawn out, there wasn’t this sense of grieving while they’re still alive. Glad I found this in a LFL

Nice little collection of Poe. I wish there were more poems, and maybe a couple less stories. Much more travel friendly than my complete collection.

Finally, some smut where the 3rd act drama doesn’t irritate me.

Johanna Van Veen is one of the few authors that has me picking up historical fiction. I didn’t like this quite as much as Darling Dreadful Thing, but I think I just prefer dark and creepy. This had a good bit of action, romance, and twists.
