I always forget about how much I enjoy "mislike" until I hear it. It feels so fun for some reason. The last character I heard use mislike was in Sandman when Dream says "I mislike little magics in my realm." I think it's because it feels slightly off and gives me a sense of ancient whimsy.

This is my first time reading Dracula and no wonder it’s a gothic classic! That description of the coach ride was incredible, but unfortunately what really spoiled the mood was Dracula sounding like the hotel Transylvania version in my head. I can’t take his speech seriously because of it!

Good morning Bookaholics!
Here is your question of the day:
Do you have a favourite adaptation of any books? 🎥
I personally love The Flatshare on Amazon (based off Beth O'Leary's book)
Is there any adaptations you hate? 📖
(cough Miss peregrine movie cough)

After having taken a year break from the series I'm excited to return to it! I hope my memory of previous books can live up to the task. I think I'll be approaching this book differently to previous ones, given that this is Robert Jordan's final living instalment in the series :(

As a lover of vampire media, I was really excited to get into the Vampire Hunter D series (especially after watching Bloodlust!). Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the worldbuilding and the crumbs of lore regarding D's background, which has incentivised me to continue the series. My one gripe with the book - as many others have stated before me - is the way women are portrayed. In the fashion of a lot of male writers at the time ('80s) the plot revolved around a damsel female whose entire arc revolved around fending off an oppressor while also pining for the Mary Sue-adjacent D. I hope that this theme will lighten across the series, but I'm not convinced that it will happen 😭If you are interested in post-apocalyptic vampires, and can look past the aforemoentioned points, then I would recommend this book!
