The artwork is gorgeous, and I enjoy the creative way their story is being told. There are random stills of the characters and monologues dispersed throughout the volume that really add to their world. I even love the characters themselves. She, a blind runaway heiress, and he, a police officer that she happened to have stumbled into one day. It's clear based on their light flirtations and tenderly exchanged words that they will come to be together. The combination of it all, however, is far too artistic for me. I prefer a story that is a little more connected than the two characters. These scenes were genuinely just snippets into their lives, floating in one another's orbit. It's all too ethereal for me.
With that said, I am still grateful to NetGalley to have been given the opportunity to review Veil. It is beautiful and fragile, just like the two of them.

As a Kickstarter backer, I just received my copy in the mail! It is beautifully illustrated and has done a wonderful job adapting the Labyrinth into a graphic novel. The illustrations at the end were a special treat as well. If you love the Labyrinth, then I really encourage you to get your hands on this when it comes out.
