related hard to rose's anxiety about belonging as someone who hasn't always been welcomed by family, and her finding her people healed something in me. her hero, mr. aubrey, is so swoony. caring, empathetic, brilliant, adorably socially inept.

An authors note as strong and powerful as this one gives me exceedingly high hopes for this story! An acknowledgment of how the romance genre is so important, not just to the people who read it but to the publishing industry as a whole, it’s exceedingly well written, and really made me pause to let her words truly sink in.
I just hope the rest of the book lives up to this introduction!
