for a romantasy book, this book tipped more toward the romance part in my opinion. it spend more time developing the relationship between the main couple than the world building, magic system or even the relationship between sylvia and other characters even though it’s integral to the story. i would love to see the development of friendship between sylvia, marek and sefa. or at least given a glimpse of their friendship so i can understand why they are so loyal to her. but as for the romance itself i actually find it very entertaining.

i was ready to give this book a 3 but i bumped it up bcs the last couple chapter is very good. i just feel like the pacing of this book could be better. there is barely anything going on for like 70% of the book. the training section should’ve been condensed and the focus can be directed to the alcalah festivity. the end really makes me curious about the next book tho.
