I read this because I wanted to get to the next full-length book in the series, but now I’m not so sure about that 😂 I really enjoyed the sarcastic writing style, but the MMC’s erection gets mentioned way too often for such a short book…

I’m convinced this is one of those books you either love or absolutely hate, and I’m definitely in the former camp. Despite the confusing worldbuilding, where the lore is delivered in a rather chaotic way and you’re left to piece some things together yourself, despite the main character acting like a teenager (I don’t know if it’s because of the trauma he went through at fifteen or because Atlanteans’ frontal lobes develop later than humans’), despite the fact that the characters communicate almost exclusively through witty banter, especially Rune and Brand, which is clearly their love language, and despite the villains being ridiculously easy to figure out (I mean, who else were we even supposed to suspect?), I still really enjoyed it!

This book has everything I love about urban fantasy: magic, pop culture references, action, intrigue, magical artifacts, and magical creatures. And, of course, found family! Quinn and Max are such great side characters! Though honestly, this whole gang is clearly missing at least one more woman, so I’m really hoping a badass female character shows up later.

I also really liked that the plot of this particular book is wrapped up, while the overarching storyline about the attack on Rune’s court is still ongoing. And excuse me, wdym Addam is going to COURT Rune? I AM HERE FOR THIS!!!
