The beginning of this book is giving me 'Incendies by Wajdi Mouawad' flashbacks 😭😭😭😭 like the twins, the mom, the attorney, the huge 'secret' in an envelope, if you know you know nothing against either books btw, Incendies is a classics almost everyone reads in Quebec in 'high school'. And I did not have a good experience reading it bc 'high school' was just not it for me lmao

Post from the Black Cake forum
I started this audiobook and I was immediately enchanted by the narration. I also love the visual metaphor the author used to describe the view of shoes from above being similar to capsized boats. That was beautifully put for a non-beautiful situation.

Nature is a gift. Not a resource.
I listened to the audiobook which was narrated well by Kimmerer. The message of the book was clear from the beginning to the end but at times felt repetitive. I had to check which chapter I was on to ensure that I was not listening to something on loop.
This book does lay down some food for thought and ideas that we can use in our daily lives to care for each other as well as the planet. But I am still left with the question of how far will it help us? There is a class and financial difference that is irreparable which makes a good chunk of the society. A lot of people might not be able to afford certain actions. This can be debatable and I am open to hear more thoughts on this.
Post from the The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World forum
This was my first audiobook. I've partially read Braiding Sweetgrass and absolutely loved the method in which the author presented the thoughts.
The Serviceberry is equally sweet and reflective. In this times, when part of the world is consuming without a cause while others are moving to be more mindful in their consumption, the book tells us how we can change our mindset in order to ensure that we give back while we take some.
The author's nudge for us to think of nature and natural beings (including ourselves) as a gift is a great perspective. Hopefully, it will encourage at least some of us to move away from thinking of nature as a resource or product.

Hi, is there an option to collapse comments (like in reddit) here? This would be helpful when I am going through posts related to recommendations instead of scrolling entire lengths to check out books suggested by other readers.
I am fairly new to this app and wanted to know if I can request for this feature or if it's already in the roadmap (incase someone mentioned it previously).
