  • Non-fiction narrators!

    Help!

I want to at least do 6 non-fictions next year and for me the key is audiobooks (with a good narrator)! Please send me your recommendations!

I had a friend recommend Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential so I have already noted that but literally any genre within non-fiction! I do like medieval history and ancient history! I’ve enjoyed some autobiographies! I work in a specialist cancer hospital so don’t mind a bit of medical and love films&music!

Please throw me your best - Thankyou in advance kind PageBound people!

  • Tea and reading! Tea lovers ā˜•ļøšŸ«–šŸ¶šŸŒæ

    Hello beautiful people!

I’m sipping Ceylon tea with cardamom (loose tea) while reading and I was wondering if you have a favourite tea to accompany your reading!

This year I got into earl grey. You’d otherwise never see me drink tea with milk in it (I grew up with herbal teas only). For some reason, the Pukka earl grey was my addiction and introduction (it has since disappeared off the shelves?!), because of its lavender notes. I’ll be making my own lavender syrup to add instead.

I have a tea journal where I scrapbook each tea I drink and review it. My family got me Twinnings earl grey in their desperate search for the Pukka one, as a replacement. I don’t hate it as much as I thought i would!

Otherwise, more favourites have been the Ahmad black tea vanilla, kashmiri chai, jasmine green tea, Yorkshire tea bedtime (decaff, vanilla and nutmeg).

    Let me know!! 🌷

  • Striving to read more library books in 2026

I'd like to be a bit more conservative with my book-buying in 2026 so I'm striving to read more than 50% library books of my total reading this year.

For some context, from my complete Finished library here on PB, 44% were borrowed and I spent money on 50% (this is possible because if I didn't remember if I bought or borrowed it, I didn't mark it. Also, I both bought and borrowed some books, either at different times, or different formats at the same time).

In 2025, only 14% were borrowed. I want to support my public library and my wallet. I'm also considering keeping track of how much money I save this year by reading library books. I'm a little scared to see what that dollar amount could be when I think of my 2025 reading, but excited to see how much I can save going forward!

  • Daunting series (lots of volumes) to start in 2026?

Topic says it all! What's a series with a massive amount of books you've been avoiding starting that you might give a shot with in 2026?

I'm catching up on a bunch of light novel series so this is primarily my reading life, but I think I might finally give the Wheel of Time series a fair shot. I started the first book as a teenager and then dove into it once again in 2021 or so, but I am reading regularly enough now that I think I might have a chance at it taking this time! I know it's a bit of an odd ending with Jordan passing before finishing it himself but I also know at least the early ride is super beloved so I want to see what it's all about!

What's your white whale you're gonna finally set sail in pursuit of??

  • Reading challenges/games to get through a Physical TBR

Every year I struggle with reading more than I buy and I was thinking of trying something new this year.

Instead of sticking to one "method" (ex: book buying bans), I try out a different challenge/game each month to see what works for me. Some I could think of were making a book bingo, making punch cards, and starting a book savings jar (putting cash away each time you finish a book).

Do you have any other ways that help making reading through your physical TBR more fun?

  • Sometimes "Reading to feel something" is the worst way one can approach literature

Just a rant ahead I guess. I wanted to throw this out in the void so I can focus on better things.

Taking reading way too seriously can ruin the fun of it. This is true for most of the things, but I just wasn't expecting this to happen with reading because I truly love it. I want to understand things better, be more knowledgeable about the points I want to frame and the opinions I stand with. I want to be open to every perspective that can be talked about when it comes to literature. But as I was stacking up books after books that in the end I did not enjoy at all just ended up burning me out as the year came to an end.

Wanting everything to make sense beyond what is in front of us is putting too many expectations on something thats just trying to exist. A book can not always be a life changing experience and I should be fine with that.

I want to read something fun. For the year that comes ahead, I hope I am less pedantic about the content in my literature and more focused on the enjoyment I can get out of it. So, that's a change for my 2026 reading goals I guess.

Hope you all have the best year of your life in 2026.
