This was definitely a wild ride! The story is interesting and fairly fast-paced. It hooks you at the beginning, that's for sure. But I found myself losing interest in some of the characters and the plot at times. I kept going because I know The Stand plays a large part in the Stephen King multiverse, which I find infinitely fascinating. However, this book did disappoint me just a bit. I had high expectations going in based on some recommendations and other books people have compared The Stand to. But for me, the story fell kind of flat. I found the prose quite well done in parts, and I found Randall Flagg to be an overall mystifying and creepy character, and I am looking forward to (or dreading) seeing him pop up in other places. Overall, I would recommend this as a read, just to immerse yourself further in the world of Stephen King.

Once again, Muir provides us with an absolute banger of a novel.
I had no idea what to expect coming from Harrow the Ninth and I gotta say it’s impossible to be disappointed in this series. I thought I’d finally understand the world and everything going on and I gotta tell you, I do NOT.
However, I’m so grateful for that. Some of my questions have been answered in this book, but simultaneaously I have a ton more that needs answering. I love putting together the puzzle of this series and I’m so excited for Alecto.

A riveting journey through time with a loveable, bumbling protagonist.
Jake Epping steps from everything he knows into the world of the early 1960s with the mission to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy. But at what cost?
This was a great ride through and through. The pacing was perfect, the characters were well-rounded, the past was harmonic, and the ending was exactly what you'd want. Like many of King's novels, the world felt rich and real. This made for a gripping and suspenseful read at times.
Additionally, I walk away from this novel knowing more about the JFK assassination and the political atmosphere in the early 60s than I did before. (I knew some)
